Apache Design Solutions Wins EDN Magazine's 2003 Innovation of the Year Award
MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif. - March 30, 2004 - Apache Design Solutions Inc. was chosen as the winner for this year's EDN "Innovation of the Year" Award. Apache was a finalist in two categories of this exclusive awards program that honors truly outstanding electronic products, as well as the creative engineers who invent them. EDN's worldwide audience of electronics engineers and engineering managers, EDN's editorial staff, and the EDN Editorial Advisory Board selected the winner. Apache's RedHawk-SDL won the "Innovation of the Year" award in the "EDA Physical Analysis" category against three other finalists (Magma Design Automation, Sequence Design, and TDA Systems). RedHawk-SDL, a full-chip dynamic (transient) power integrity solution for SoC design, provides a first of its kind Vectorless Dynamic™ solution based on switching and propagation statistics for full-chip coverage. RedHawk-SDL delivers SoC capacity with SPICE-level accuracy. With its ability to analyze the Dynamic Voltage Drop (DvD)'s impact on timing, RedHawk-SDL has enabled customers to identify and correct physical power integrity issues that were missed by traditional "golden" static IR-drop analysis. Andrew Yang, Apache's CEO, said, "It is exciting to be part of a team with such excellent technical vision, perseverance, and execution. But it's most rewarding to see our customers recognizing our unique value to their most critical projects, and casting their votes with their EDN award ballot as well as with their budgets." About EDNEDN, the premier design magazine of the electronics industry, is published by Reed Business Information. Headquartered in Newton, Massachusetts, EDN serves the vital information needs of design engineers and engineering managers worldwide. The EDN franchise includes EDN, EDN Europe, EDN Asia, EDN China, EDN Japan, and EDN.com, the only full-content, EOEM publication and Web site. About RedHawk-SDLApache's flagship RedHawk-SDL fills the critical missing link for physical power flows in 130nm, 90nm, and 65nm SoC designs. It provides the only full-chip static and Vectorless DynamicTM physical power solution that is capable of addressing dynamic power issues such as simultaneous switching outputs (SSO) for core, memory, clock and I/O, as well as the effects of on-chip inductance, package models, and decoupling capacitance. RedHawk-SDL enables designers to examine the power and timing impacts on a SoC caused by physical implementation decisions made from the early design stage through final verification. RedHawk-SDL delivers dramatic speedup with transistor-level accuracy. It also addresses verification issues associated with low-power techniques such as leakage current, power gating, multiple voltages and multiple thresholds. About Apache Design SolutionsApache is an EDA software supplier of innovative next-generation silicon integrity platforms for low-power, high-performance system-on-a-chip (SoC) designs. By considering all sources of noise that impacts the design, such as power, signal, package / system IO, substrate, and temperature, Apache’s silicon signoff platform enables designers of leading networking, wireless, communication, consumer, and semiconductor companies to detect, fix, and prevent design weaknesses that can result in reduced yield or failed silicon. Apache’s vendor neutral platform enables designers to adopt any industry’s standard physical design flow and is certified by TSMC’s 5.0 and 6.0 Reference Flow (NYSE: TSM). Apache has direct sales and support offices worldwide with over 40 customers, including 7 of the top 10 semiconductor companies. Apache Design Solutions, NSPICE, RedHawk, PsiWinder, and Vectorless Dynamic are trademarks of Apache Design Solutions, Inc.
